Likened
by independent reviewers on Amazon to the Brontë sisters, Edgar
Allen Poe, Barbara Erskine and Nathaniel Hawthorne, Karen Perkins'
novels are filled with unflinching honesty and an acute understanding
of human nature. She explores not only the depths of humanity, but
the depths of human motivation behind the actions and pain people
inflict upon each other, as well as the repercussions of these
actions not only in the short term, but also the later generations
who live with the implications of the past.

Emma
Moorcroft is still grieving after a late miscarriage and moves to her
dream house at Thruscross Reservoir with her husband, Dave. Both Emma
and Dave hope that moving into their new home signifies a fresh
start, but life is not that simple. Emma has nightmares about the
reservoir and the drowned village that lies beneath the water, and is
further disturbed by the sound of church bells - from a church that
no longer exists.

Jennet
is fifteen and lives in the isolated community of Thores-Cross, where
life revolves about the sheep on which they depend. Following the
sudden loss of both her parents, she is seduced by the local wool
merchant, Richard Ramsgill. She becomes pregnant and is shunned not
only by Ramsgill, but by the entire village. Lonely and embittered,
Jennet's problems escalate, leading to tragic consequences which
continue to have an effect through the centuries.

Emma
becomes fixated on Jennet, neglecting herself, her beloved dogs and
her husband to the point where her marriage may not survive. As
Jennet and Emma's lives become further entwined, Emma's obsession
deepens and she realises that the curse Jennet inflicted on the
Ramsgill family over two hundred years ago is still claiming
lives.

Emma
is the only one who can stop Jennet killing again, but will her
efforts be enough?

Cursed
Ghosts
of Thores-Cross Book 2

Jennet's
here. No one is safe.

A
skeleton is dug up at the crossing of the ways on Hanging Moor,
striking dread into the heart of Old Ma Ramsgill - the elderly
matriarch of the village of Thruscross. And with good reason. The
eighteenth-century witch, Jennet, has been woken.

A
spate of killings by a vicious black dog gives credence to her
warnings and the community - in particular her family - realise they
are in terrible danger.

Drastic
measures are needed to contain her, but with the imminent flooding of
the valley to create a new reservoir, do they have the ability to
stop her and break her curse?

Jennet
Ghosts
of Thores-Cross Book 3

Jennet
will
have your heart and
your fear in
equal measure’
Through
Jennet we
see how cruelty can
drive even the most ordinary people to hatred
and,
in Jennet's case,
evil
Yorkshire
is in the grip of a heatwave, and Thruscross Reservoir has dried up
to reveal the remains of the drowned village of Thores-Cross beneath.
Playing
in the mud which coats the valley floor, four-year-old Clare
Wainwright finds an old inkpot, and can’t wait to show it to her
best friend, Louise. But when Louise’s mother, Emma, sees it, her
reaction is shocking, and both families are plunged into their worst
nightmares.
Emma
knows what the inkpot portends:
Jennet
has woken.
Now
she wants the children.
This
is not a gore-ridden, jump-scare horror story. This is more real than
that. Jennet is a story about the horrific things that people do to
each other, and the way we react to that maltreatment – which does
not always end with death.
Jennet’s
story is a horror story because it’s not necessarily fiction. It
reflects the way women were treated in the time that Jennet lived. It
reflects the psychology of the abuse cycle. And it reflects real
life. All of it.
If,
as I believe, the spirit does not die when the physical body dies,
then how many spirits are looking for vengeance today?
What
wrongs will you want to right when you pass through that veil? What
will I?
This
is the conclusion of Jennet’s story, which began in The Haunting of
Thores-Cross. I hope she finds peace. I really do.

Beauty

Prequel
to Sons of the Alpha – Knight

A
tale as old as time--
with a
Paranormal twist!
Rebecca
Hartford hates Valentine's Day.  That is, until the mysterious,
attractive Erik Leonid bursts into the café where she sits eating
alone that afternoon.  Then her entire world, and all of her
preconceptions, turns upside-down and will never be the same.
That means learning to love someone from the inside-out regardless of
her fears and those seeking to harm them both for their forbidden
relationship.
She
only hopes it will be enough.

Addison
Carmichael has been a storyteller since she was a young girl. Even
then every tale she imagined had a romantic element that grabbed
front and center. She is absolutely in love with love—giving it,
receiving it, then sending it back out into the world. She believes
there is something miraculous and supernatural about true love in
every form, and incorporates this magical element into all of her
stories.
Besides
reading and writing (blissful addictions), Addison loves the
mountains and ocean, and enjoys hiking, camping, horseback riding and
star gazing. She also bakes, knits and sews, which she never has
enough time for. She attempted mastering several musical
instruments, singing, painting, photography, dancing and archery, but
always returned to writing and storytelling as the “one true love”
of her life.
Addison
was born and raised in Southern California and has lived and traveled
all over the west coast (and the world), now living
happily-ever-after with her family in the Pacific Northwest in
Snohomish, Washington.

Chronicles
of a Hero Book 6

Caught.
Tortured. Scheduled for execution. Any Questions?.

Wendell
and Dax are exposed and the gnomes of Clockwork City are freaking
out.

Are
they spies? Is this an invasion? Was this all just a terror tactic to
get gnomes to pay their taxes?

Now
with Wendell under arrest and Dax under armed guard, it’s going to
take a pardon from President Shrub to set them free.

Good
thing Chuck’s planning to kidnap his kids.

The
Truth About Lies is book six in the Chronicles of a Hero series by
Jaime Buckley. The series that makes you laugh, squirm, grit your
teeth and has you begging for more.

loved this book because it takes a misfit who was never really liked
or appreciated and it shows the beginning of the process of him
unlocking his potential and becoming something greater than anyone
would have imagined for such a small, insignificant person."

The
Price of Fame
Chronicles
of a Hero Book 7

Honest
Politicians. Humane Terrorists. Religious Devils.

Then it gets
confusing…

Wendell’s
learned that gnomes are just as irritating and dangerous as
humans…they just come in smaller packaging.

Citizens
are rebelling, the government’s collapsing, the Church is selling
off the poor and Dax’s head on the chopping block.

All
Chuck needs to get everyone home is a city wide diversion, a flying
S.L.A.G., four lawyers, a hand grenade…and a tiny bit of
string.

It
feels good when a plan comes together!

Price of Fame is book seven in the Chronicles of a Hero series by

twists to keep you guessing, this book will curl your toes and put a
smirk on your face!

with wild imaginations and inspirations. It’s a rarity that a YA
book contains the combination of those three things but Wanted: Hero
has them. Seriously, you don’t want to miss reading this book in
your lifetime."

Staying Motivated by Jaime Buckley
Here we are, entering 2019!
I’m feeling pretty good, how about you?
Have you started working on those writing or reading challenges you set for yourself this year?
Finding the days events fluctuating...wearing you down?
As a writer, illustrator and dad of 12 (soon to be 13) I always think it’s a good time to cover staying motivated.
No, I’m not saying you’re having problems and yes, I know that this is a book blog tour, but everyone needs a little motivation from time to time, so HERE I AM BABY.
Circumstances can change in an instant. So why not look ahead and prepare for the pot holes and avoid them altogether?

Create Checkpoints
One of the best ways to stay motivated while writing Chronicles of a Hero is a checkpoint strategy. This is where you take that huge goal and chop it up into tiny bit-sized pieces so it’s more manageable.
Look at it like a marathon race.
No one dashes out and runs as fast as they can all the time. They pace themselves and focus on the checkpoints—so they can leave their minds in the zone and focus on progress.
Focus on what IS being accomplished, not what is lacking. That’s a vacuum you should avoid.

Learn and Adhere to your RULES
I’m a writer. Love saying that—because it took me these 14+ years to finally accept it. I’m a writer!
Written 30 books so far and three of them were novels over 500 pages each. Yes, I am most certainly a writer. That being said, there are simple, yet specific rules to follow if you’re a writer.
The number one rule isn’t voice or prose or spelling.
It’s writing.
You heard me. The #1 Rule to writing is WRITING.
Sit your butt down in that chair and pound out that book, article or game outline.
Whatever you write, get to it.
Correct it and refine it after you have it in your hand. Nothing will come of your efforts until you make that effort.
What are the rules you’ve set for yourself so that you can met that goal you’re trying to achieve?

What others think DOES matter
This is a double-edged sword.
While we don’t want to let what is said about us pull us down or influence our work for the worse—we should also take the time to allow compliments feed our soul.
We all can use a pick-me-up from time to time. There are also people who love us and want to see us succeed...so let them.
If you’re a writer, there are few things more powerful than a fan contacting you to tell you how much they loved your work.
I cannot express the energy and drive I feel after such a conversation.
It’s all a balance—and a key to staying motivated is holding onto the positive and letting go of (or ignoring) the negative.

Remember what you WANT to be
Keep a clear view on the target here. Not just on what you’re trying to achieve, but who you’re trying to become. That way, each and every step you take will make subtle shifts in your life and help you further down the path.
My own habit is to create goals that are just beyond the furthest distance I have reached before. Just enough to make me stretch.
Knowing I want to be a best-selling author alters the choices I make.
Knowing I want to build to one million readers also alters the choices I make.
Not only do I have to write—I must write well, consistently, create draw and build relationships with readers, critics and associates.
It requires a business sense I don’t yet have, so I study, learn and practice—which in turn affects every other aspect of my life as a professional.
Here’s what so many new authors don’t seem to realize or accept:
You are GOING to screw up. You really are, but it’s okay, because it’s called success in motion!

Be careful what you say
Words have power.
I know—it’s my profession AND I’m a father of 12 (+1)—but that’s not what I mean in this case.
I specifically mean be careful what you say out loud, to yourself.
Words have the power to discourage, corrupt and derail you from your path.
Cease from using the word “if,” when describing your goals. Use “when” instead.
Don’t say “need,” rather than “want,” which is more proactive.
Every word you use isn’t just affecting those you speak to—but your own spirit and subconsciousness as well.

Remind yourself of where you’ve been
Sometimes what it takes to keep going is looking back.
Being an Indie Author has so many challenges to face and overcome. So many things to learn, do and endure—but in the end it’s always been worth it. It’s always proven to make me a stronger person and has granted me the blessed opportunities to be of help to others.
I take time weekly to sit quietly and ponder what I’ve already experienced.
Who I have met along the way and been able to help—or been helped by. I pray God to bless them for their willingness to help a soul like me along my course, especially when it felt near impossible to take another step.
At the same time, I take the time to list what has been accomplished.
The steps I’ve taken that were said to be impossible.
They weren’t.
They were simply steps others were unwilling to take themselves.
That makes this journey that much more to me.

Your friend,

Jaime Buckley
