GENRE: YA Urban Fantasy
Noah Thomas is a scrawny seventh grader who is bullied to the brink in his new town. Friendless, except for sassy tomboy Wendy Sherman, who seems to lend him the confidence he needs to stand up to his oppressors. Upon stumbling into a bookshop one afternoon while on the run from some teenaged tyrants, Noah is hurled into an unexplainable adventure. Noah learns that the bookshop does, in fact, lead to the Akashic Records – a place that holds all spirit lives recorded in tablets of light. With this new found knowledge, Noah begins to grow in wisdom and confidence to face his fears. His biggest challenge comes in the form of five demonic spirits that he accidentally lets loose from a lost tablet. Will Noah succeed with the help of his guardian angel cat he calls Keeper, or will all Hell's henchman prevail?

"A spiritual thriller that skillfully celebrates determination and self-discipline - Kirkus Reviews "

Read an Excerpt:

They reached the side of the building from which Noah’s room could easily be seen, and the twins walked through the exterior wall, making themselves visible. Noah was knocked unconscious and appeared lying on the floor, wedged against debris and a corner wall space. The book was on the floor, alive and open, shaking wildly, while the magic of dark energies poured from its depths. There was a flow of freed evil creatures clawing out through the window and into the night air. Enoch scooped the book up and slammed it shut; great, heavy iron doors locking into place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  Dark Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
I began to hear a sound as they were speaking; a small child’s voice, whispering to me. Her high pitched voice, singing a lullaby and I recognized the notes. It was Greensleeves, the same one my mother had sang to me when I was a child. Without thinking, I walked forward, ignoring them as they reached out for me.
“Megan, stop!” I heard them say yet I went in. Suddenly the room was full of sunlight. It was a child’s nursery, with light blue walls and soft white curtains at the lovely double sided windows that opened on to a huge oak tree, whose branches reached out to the window’s ledge. A small robin sat on the limb, singing. I turned to see toys and stuffed animals around the wooden floor that was covered with a multicolored throw rug. Shelf after shelf of books and nick knacks were all around the walls. Then I saw her in the corner, slowly moving back and forth in the rocking chair, holding a doll, gently stroking its hair. She looked up and I saw eyes, one green and one blue. Her light brown hair was tied up with a yellow ribbon, and she wore a pale blue dress with lace and bows. Her legs had the familiar white tights that I remembered as well as black Mary Jane’s on her little feet.
“Hello there,” she said, smiling sweetly.
“Hello. Who are you?” I asked walking toward her, still looking around, totally amazed at what I was seeing, experiencing.
“Well, I’m you of course.” She said, coyly. She jumped up and reached out for my hand. She looked at the cute little tea set on the table next to her.
“Will you join me for some tea with my dolly?” She asked in her little voice, so sweet and innocent. There was something I was supposed to be doing, but what was it? I couldn’t remember. Wasn’t there someone with me, right before I saw her? No, I must’ve of imagined that. Where else would I want to be besides here?
“Yes, I’d love to. Would you like me to pour?” I said, sitting down and crossing me legs as she sat in the little chair beside me.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Catherine Russell was born in Tacoma, Washington and raised in a small town just south, South Hill, Puyallup. At the time South Hill was a heavily wooded area and far off the beaten path. Growing up she had the forests as her fantasy world along with the wild animals. She lived with her parents and an older sister. There are a few similarities from her own childhood that have carried over in to her first novel, “The Stage”. As a child, she did have a small dog named Toto, whom she would quite frequently roam the woods with. Her childhood home still stands, and is still nestled in the woods even though South Hill has undergone an extreme makeover since she lived there. She enjoyed hours of day dreaming and playing in the woods, which in turn fed her fantasy world of make believe.
The book is on sale for $0.99 during the tour only.
Interview with Catherine Russell
If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?
Answer: This one is too easy for me. To be immortal, to not be able to die. Though this is a double edged sword for one to live forever, one outlives those they love and the world around them changes constantly and most humans crave consistency and continuity. Yet I would travel the world, learn from all walks of life, to breathe, feel, taste, and experience what this world has to offer.
What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to learn about you?
Answer: This is a bit of a challenge as my main character/heroine Megan O’Day is very similar to myself…I guess the one aspect of my life that isn’t necessarily reflected in this series of books is that I’m a very proud gay woman who has been married to my wife since 1989, going on 29 years, I’m a cervical cancer survivor and that even more astonishing is that we have a son that I carried full term during our 13th year of marriage.
When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature do you start with?
Answer: This is easy as both of my main characters have two-tone bilateral eye coloring, one sapphire blue and the other deep emerald green. As a child I once owned a book titled “The Good Luck Child” which featured a character with the same trait plus in elementary school, one of my classmates that also had the same eye coloring mutation which I found very fascinating.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Answer: Well as I’m not clear on what that 2nd word is ,“pantser”, I’m not entirely sure I can answer this question openly or fairly.
Did you learn anything from writing this book? If so, what?
Answer: That determination truly pays off as I focused on having the story flow better, to have the characters move from scene to scene mush smoother and less flawed. As I continue to create my world and more characters I feel much more at ease and don’t second guess my process.
GENRE: YA (Young Adult)
After being separated abruptly, best friends Benj and Élan reunite after five years. They are not children anymore, and teenage and experience changed them.
Benj used to be an isolated antisocial child, now he’s popular and outgoing, leaving for college in the following year.
Élan used to be chipper, now he’s sad and insecure after years of being tossed around the foster system and realizing he is gay, crushing on a boy he thinks is unattainable.
Their reunion proves to be a challenge as they are the polar opposites of how they knew each other, the journey to healing and proves to be tough. Bonding again may be the only thing that saves them. Through small moments and swift dramatic turns, Benj and Élan will have to prove they are more than friends - they are buddies, and the epitome of unconditional love.
Read an Excerpt:
ÉLAN
“Please! Don’t take my best friend away!”
I remember. Hurts every time.
Even if it’s been five years, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget that. The day that changed the course of my life, and the moment when I realized everything was lost. He was running behind the car, trying to reach me. I was crying, sobbing real tears that threatened to break my already shattered heart. I remember asking the social workers for leniency, to let me say goodbye to Benj. But they said this was for the better. They said this is what it was meant to be. They said it wouldn’t hurt that bad this way.
It still hurts every day.
I looked through the window and I saw him, crying for me. That was the last time I heard someone who loved me cry out my name. I know it’s stupid, it’s been five years and I should probably try to move on. Sometimes I want to forget, but then I remember that it would be worse. If I forgot Benj, I’d probably be hollow. So I held on to the memory of us as long as I could. He was my light in the darkness.
Every night filled with shadows, he was my anchor to strength. I kept saying that one day we’d meet again and things would be like they used to be, so I try to be strong. Even if I grow hair in unexpected places and my voice deepens, or if I’m taller, he would still like me. Even if I don’t see life the same way as before, he would still love me.
I was not Batman, he was.
He was my Batman.
Review Tour for Soul Song by Mikea Howard
Soul Song
by Mikea Howard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Fantasy/paranormal

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Dottie thought she had it all: a successful singing career, a handsome fiancé, and a starlet’s wardrobe. Sudden betrayal brought it all crashing down around her. Those she trusted most played her as nothing more than a pawn. One misstep while fleeing the scene trapped her in another world alone, save a mysterious visitor.
Guatimozin, an eagle shifter, has spent ages assisting people through the realm between life and death, leading them to join loved ones on either side. No one had ever made him want anything for himself until he discovered this city girl.
Forces plot against them and time is short. Soon, their chance for a happily ever after will be too late.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt One:
Dottie wiped the tears from her face. Damn him, and damn his floosy too. She’d do what her mother constantly threatened her stepdad with, and remove his cock to wear it proudly on a chain around her neck.

I jus’ gotta find a way out of this kooky forest first.

Making her way back onto her feet, she dusted off her dress in a mindless motion. The fabric passed beneath her strokes smooth and dirt free. She studied the once vibrant red dress she’d worn on stage. The satin now appeared drab and colorless. Her bare feet peeked from beneath its hem, as clean as the moment she’d dabbed them dry from her bath. The blind sprint from her dressing room, across town, and up the hill, should have left them covered in filth.

In exasperation, she threw her arms in the air. “Swell. I mus’ be dead and I’m . . .”

She moved away from the tree to scrutinize her surroundings. As much as Dottie hoped she’d end up in heaven, her mother always insisted that, as a willful child trying to pass as something she wasn’t, her final destination would be a bit further down.
The sensation of electricity passing through the air made every hair stand on end as a matter-of-fact reply came from behind. “No, you aren’t dead, but you’re not exactly alive either. You’re in a realm known as the in-between.”

Spinning around, Dottie came face to face with a stranger. Like the tree, he appeared in color, only he wasn’t pink and purple. Instead, a tall man with reddish tan skin, swirling silver eyes, and waist length striking black hair, stared at her as though regarding a ghost. Thick muscular arms crossed over his chest as his shocked expression ease into a slow smirk, highlighting the defined beak-like nose, high cheekbones, and strong chin framing his mouth.

Nervously licking her lips, she couldn’t help but muse, Di Mi. Well hello, sailor.

My Review: 4*
Soul Song is book to in the Soul Mate Tree Series. Each book is written by a different Author and in this book the Author is Mikea Howard. Each book in the series has a part played by the magical Soul Mate Tree which brings Soul Mates together. I have read a few of the books from this series and have enjoyed them all. Each book in the series is a stand alone so you do not have to read them in order.

Soul Song brings us Dottie and Guatimozin. Dottie is a singer who thinks she has everything in life she wants until her Fiance betrays her and she ends up with nothing. She finds herself under the Soul Mate tree where she meets Guatimozin.

Guatimozin or Tim, is an eagle shifter  and in a way a Reaper. His job is to help reunite people on the other side with their family members who have crossed before them.  Upp until meeting Dottie he has never thought of his wants or needs. But Dottie changes it that. Now if the different realms will let them have their love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Writing under Mikea Howard, we are actually Mindy Howard and Kelly Smith, sisters-in-law who share a love for romance, usually paranormal. We have spent the last several years reading and sharing books as well as authors, often making comments about how we'd love to write our own when we ran out of things to read.
While based on our TBR piles, we have not run out of reading material, yet we decided to write when the muse hit Kelly with a dystopian diesel world and an opening scene with the heroine running out into the woods. Mindy then saw her hero step in, and The Diesel War series was born.
Mindy is an IT professional at a telecom company. She is married to a musician and teacher, who also happens to be Kelly's brother. She has one adult son and is living out west.
Kelly is a Registered Nurse working in maternal-fetal medicine. She has a great husband, who happens to be Mindy's husband's best friend. She has one son in high school, one daughter in middle school, and is living on the east coast.
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
SHE HAS NO TIME FOR LOVE
Dr. Gen Kendall has paid too high a price to let anything get in the way of her dream. In one month she’ll be a full-fledged doctor. She just has to impress her chief of staff, Dr. Jack O’Neill. She impresses him, all right. With one swing of a softball bat she puts him in his own hospital and changes both of their lives forever.
HE HAS NO TASTE FOR LOVE
A widower with a 12-year-old daughter, Jack hopes this move to Chicago will signal a new life for them both. He doesn’t plan on finding himself literally at the feet of one of the most compelling women he’s ever known. He certainly doesn’t expect her to turn his life upside down when she recognizes something in his daughter that could well break his heart. Is love enough to see them through, especially when it means that not just Jack but Gen must face the ghosts of their pasts to save his little girl?
Read an Excerpt
“Oh, God, I’ve killed my chief of staff,” she moaned, feeling for a pulse, praying for respiration. “And I haven’t even been introduced.”
He was ashen-colored and stone silent. He was, however, breathing. Gen could feel the flutter of air against her forearm as she reached to discover a heartily reassuring carotid pulse. His heart and lungs were working. Now they could only hope his brain was, too.
Gen barely noticed the people already jostling for position around her. She didn’t pay attention to the forest of cell phones raised in an effort to call 911. She didn’t attend to the babel of conflicting orders from the chief of every service except the two she needed most, trauma and neurosurgery.
“Pardon the cliche,” she said, already having been stepped on twice and losing enough light to keep her from checking Dr. O’Neill’s pupils. “But could you guys all move the hell back enough to give the man some damn air?”
There was a rustle, another stunned silence and a small “Oh.”
But a space cleared.
“Paramedics are on their way,” somebody said. “Don’t move him.”
No kidding, Gen thought to herself. I bet that guy’s a doctor.
“I just put him here,” she snapped, even though she knew better. “I’m not going to move him now.”
Somebody giggled, a high, scared sound. Gen thought she was going to throw up. Instead, she checked Dr. O’Neill’s pupils. Equal, round, reactive to light. Another good sign. His irises were blue-green, as translucent as the Caribbean on a summer morning. The kind of irises that would look just great smiling over wine and flowers.
What a waste.
Now Gen wanted to giggle too. This was just so absurd.
“What a perfect end to a perfect day,” she said with a sad shake of her head. “This should have been Lee.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” her patient muttered without opening his eyes. “And who is Lee that you would have preferred knocking him into the next time-and-space continuum instead of me?”
From Novella 2: Baby Bedlam
“I was thinking…”
She’s on guard immediately.
“Uh-huhhhhhh?”
I give her my best naughty smile.
“Nothing bad,” I assure her. “I figured maybe you and I could just get away for a couple of nights? We could sort out some of the wedding plans…maybe get a jump on the honeymoon…”
Jameson rolls her eyes and smiles at my suggestive suggestion. “Why don’t we just stay here? You, me, the calendar…the three of us can hole up here under the covers,” she counter-offers, wagging her eyebrows up and down in her own…suggestion.
But, adorable as she is, I shake my head.
“Nope.”
“Nope to which part of it? Me? Bed? The calendar?” she asks, sounding slightly amused.
“The ‘here’ part of it,” I explain. “Because you know it won’t just be you and me. It’ll also be Walker. And Bailey. And Bailey’s friend Dana. And Dana’s boyfriend Joseph—”
“All right already! I get the idea!” She’s giggling, even as she kicks me gently with her foot. “Then where did you have in mind?”
“Just leave that up to me.”
“Hmmm…a surprise…I think I quite like that, Scott Clarke.”
“Me, too,” I say, even as I’m leaning down to put my mouth to hers.
“I can’t wait to see what you have in mind,” she whispers between kisses.
Me, too.
About the Author:
L.E. Rico didn’t set out to be an author. In fact, she’s made a name for herself as a classical music radio host—doing her best to make the music and the composers relevant by putting them into a modern context. It was just a few years ago that she discovered a passion for writing that blossomed into an entire novel. And then another. And another. And, while she still spends plenty of time on the radio, telling the stories of the great composers, she spends even more time composing her own great stories.
You seem fine to me.” He held her close once again. “You seem pretty great.”
She tipped her head to the side to look at him. His eyes flashed, then he captured her mouth in a kiss. Electricity shot from her head to her toes. She pressed against him. She’d never been kissed so deeply. Sparks centered in her pussy. He threaded his fingers into her hair and held her tight without crushing her. When he broke the connection, her knees quaked. She sagged into him.
Damn.” He smiled. “Better than I thought.”
She wanted to say something snappy, but the words weren’t there. Instead, she settled for honesty. “For me, too.”
She draped her arms around his neck. She didn’t want to leave the dance floor or for the night to end. She could almost hear Kelly encouraging her to leave with him and live a little. He hadn’t asked her to go home with him, but the better part of her wanted that to happen.
I can’t offer you forever, but I want to give you tonight,” he said. He kissed her again then cupped her jaw in both hands. “Very much so.”
Who needs forever when one night can be everything?”
With the discovery comes a calling. A prophecy tells of a young one who can push back the dark forces that threaten to corrupt our hopes and dreams. Is Willow that young one? Can she take on the forces of evil, the Underlord Maliceius, and win?
Willow swallowed uncomfortably at the unexpected sadness in her mother’s words. She held back a few moments. “Mum,” she said softly, “why hasn’t there been a Light Keeper in our family for so long? And what exactly is a Light Keeper?”
Her mother didn’t answer straight away; there was a faraway look in her eyes.
“Those are big questions, Willow, that require big answers.”
Audrey slowly tucked her hair behind her ears then crossed her arms on the table.
“There haven’t been many Light Keepers anywhere for over a century and there are very good reasons as to why, and we will tell you. But just not right now – not all at once. And why I haven’t been Awakened – well, I wasn’t chosen. Simple as that.”
She lowered her eyes.
Willow stared at her mother. She wanted to say something but felt completely lost for words. So she had been chosen and her mother not? Why?
