by
Julie Wenzlick
Genre:
Children's Rhyming Picture Book

When pre-schooler
Annabelle awakens one morning, she has a strange urge to start
doodling.
She calls for paper
and pen and begins doodling continuously, unable to stop—even for
meals! Her concerned parents take her to the doctor, who discovers a
doodlebug bite on her neck.
He assures them her
doodling urges will end when the bite fades away. Annabelle gets so
good at doodling she opens a shop to sell her work and even travels
the world to share her art.
Then one day the
bite fades and so do her uncontrollable urges.

The
Day Maisie and Annabelle Got the Giggles

Julie Wenzlick
Genre:
Children's Rhyming Picture Book

After
sisters Annabelle and Maisie meet the gigglepuss outside on the
trampoline, they suddenly can’t stop giggling. Their dad has a hard
time believing they met a gigglepuss, calling it “mythical
nonsense.” But as time passes and they giggle harder and harder,
there’s no choice but to take them to the doctor, who provides an
unpleasant but effective remedy. Wonder who else in the family will
encounter that rascally gigglepuss?

The
Day Maisie Picked a Daisy
by
Julie Wenzlick
Genre:
Children's Rhyming Picture Book

When
big sister Annabelle decides to go against Mom’s rules and take
little sister Maisie Grace for a ride in her pink Barbie Corvette,
she has no idea of the adventure that lies ahead!  Join these
wandering sisters as they explore Miss Millie’s garden and fail to
obey the sign: Do NOT pick the Daisies!  What will happen when
Maisie unknowingly plucks one daisy from the garden?

Julie
Wenzlick is a retired English teacher who loves to rhyme. She began
writing poems and stories in second grade, and she loves to share her
books with elementary students in hopes of inspiring them to write
their own stories. Three of her books were inspired by her
granddaughters Annabelle and Maisie. She often gets the question from
her young audiences, "Did this REALLY happen?" Her book
"The Day Annabelle was Bitten by a Doodlebug" was chosen as
Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest Children's Book category for
2017. Julie, who also writes songs to go with her books, produced her
original full-length musical comedy "Singles File," in the
early 90s at three venues. You can find out more about her at

When the chickens are laying their eggs, Mixter knows by the twitch in his tail and the tickle in his nostril, which sends shivers of anticipation to his crinkled toes. He barely contains the shrieks that rise from his throat. “The eggsies is coming from under the feathered beasts!  My breakfast is ready, by fork and by spork!   My breakfast arrives, let the minutes come faster!  Be hesty!  Be hasty!” he exclaims as he leaps.  Then up through the hole in the barn coop he ambles.

Amelia, The Merballs and the Emerald Cannon by Evonne Blanchard

Title: Amelia, the Merballs and the Emerald Cannon
Author: Evonne Blanchard
Genre: Children’s Books
Amelia and Uglesnoo land on Mercury.  They meet the Merballs, the friendly aliens that live there.  All goes well, until an asteroid hits their planet. Amelia and Uglesnoo find themselves in deep trouble. How will they convince the Merballs of their innocence? And how will they manage to collect the flying shoes, escape Mercury and continue their quest to save Uglesnoo’s sister?
Author Bio
Evonne Blanchard was born and raised in England. She met her husband, an American whilst they were both volunteering at a children's orphanage in Guatemala.  The writer lives north of Boston, Massachusetts with her husband and their two daughters, Lydia and Gwendolyn. Other additions to the household include a crazy puppy called Bailey, a lovely cat called Arthur, and lots of fish!
The author has been fascinated by space ever since she was a little girl, mesmerized by clips of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon. As a teenager, War of the Worlds, by H.G Wells became one of her favorite books and she adores the movie Mars Attacks.

When it came to creating her own aliens, the author decided on the warm and fuzzy type, rather than the war-like Martians. Uglesnoo, her main alien character is from Pluto. He's very friendly and nice but a little crazy too! This was the beginning of Amelia's Amazing Space Adventures, starring Amelia and her alien friend Uglesnoo, from Pluto in a series of ten exciting space adventures for children, ages 5-10.

Uglesnoo’s sister is very sick.  The only cure is a repelling crystal from Neptune.  To obtain the crystal Amelia and Uglesnoo must travel to the Moon, Sun and all the planets in the solar system.

Evonne’s favorite planet -or to be more accurate dwarf planet- is Pluto, because it has a blue sky and glaciers just like Earth! She was not happy when Pluto was downgraded. Uglesnoo, her alien creation from Pluto is still mad at the decision.  “Pluto is the most important place in the solar system.  It’s where everyone goes for their vacation!” He agrees with Alan Stern, a leading NASA scientist, “This definition (of Pluto as a dwarf planet) stinks…!”

The author is currently working on the fourth book in the series, Amelia, the Snapperjacks and the Molten Maze.  This book is set on the Sun.  How will Amelia and Uglesnoo manage to land on the boiling hot Sun, trade with the aliens, find the jars of Snapperjack honey and continue their quest to save Uglesnoo's sister?  Find out... in Amelia's next amazing space adventure!

Lala
wakes up and feels rotten, but she's not sure why. She's not sick, and the sun
is shining. Lala is blah-la.

She
stomps downstairs for breakfast.

Stomp,
stomp, stomp.

My Review:
5*
Lala wakes up in a  bad mood. She doesn't know why. Her mother is determined to turn her Blah day into a good day. She starts with a happy breakfast then moves on to a happy lunch. When neither work she comes up with a plan to flip an imaginary coin. Tails is a blah day, she tells Lala to flip the coin over in her mind to heads.

This was a very short story and would be perfect for a Blah-la day for any child in the morning when it is looking like a bad day. Teia Kayne has done a wonderful job with this book, it even brought a smile to my face. This is a picture book with vivid and bright illustrations all the way through it. The illustrations are by Goran Vitanovic.

As the daughter of a librarian, Tela Kayne grew up reading countless
literary works of all genres in quiet corners of the local library. She
developed the love of writing at an early age, penning theatrical
productions that were performed in the family living room for an
audience of loved ones. She officially began her creative career as a
young actress in Atlanta, having appeared on stage in a variety of roles
including Puck of Midsummer Night’s Dream and Alice in Alice in
Wonderland.

After graduating college Summa Cum Laude from the University of
Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and working a short
stint in the “real world,” she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career
in film. After securing her Screen Actor’s Guild membership through
appearances on television shows like G vs E, The Parkers and Get Real as
well as films like Down to You, Almost Famous, and Disney’s The Kid,
she decided to garner more behind-the-camera experience. She secured
internships at Scott Rudin Productions, one of Hollywood’s most prolific
and demanding producers and Mostow Lieberman Productions (U-571) at
Universal Studios. She soon accepted a paid position with executive
producer Chris Sievernich and discovered her love of screenplay
development, running the coverage department for Kinowelt USA and
assisting in the development of projects like Nurse Betty, The Wedding
Planner and Welcome to Collinwood. After several years of working in
Hollywood, she returned home to Atlanta in 2001 to focus on a career in
strategic marketing.

As president and founder of The Virtue Agency, an integrated content
development and marketing agency, Tela has spent the last fifteen years
writing content and maximizing brand exposure and engagement for
clients. She has authored articles that appear on MarketWatch (WSJ),
Yahoo! Finance, MNN.com, EWG.org, and HealthyChild.org. She is also
entering into the literary world with the release of LaLa Feels Blah-La, Book 1 of her debut children’s series, LaLa’s World.

Ranger Rick Kids' Guide to Hiking by Helen Olsson

Ranger Rick Kids' Guide to Hiking by Helen Olsson is a have to have book if you are going hiking. The book is written for kids 8+ but if you have never been hiking it would be good for adults as well. The book tells you where to go , when to go, what to take with you and more.

There are lots of illustrations throughout the book to make the book even more enjoyable. And of Course Ranger Rick is on almost every page. He is an adorable raccoon. The book is written in easy to understand language, and filled with tips, ideas, and even some hiking rules.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Outside: Discovering Animals Maria Ana Peixe Dias, Ines Teixeira do Rosario

Very informative book written on a childs level about following the signs to learn about the animals around us. The books focuses on 100 animal species and how to tell if they live around where you are.  Now personally I would gibe this book to a child say 8 years and up but I would not send them out into the weeds and woods on their own. Some of these animals will hurt the kids if they happened across them. I do appreciate that the book tells you to just look and do not touch.

The book is very interesting. It give tons of facts on the animals featured. Like with Worms for instance. The book explains how they move with no legs. Do they have noses, hearts, lungs? What do they eat? What eats them? Where they live and how they live. All of this and more in 4 short pages.

I really like the illustrations. Some are cartoonish others give you a good look at the animal. The whole book is done in black, white, and hot pink. They really catch your eye.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Amazing World: Bugs by L.J. Tracosas

Most kids are curious about everything around us. This set of Amazing World books are great. In this book about Bugs, you and your child will learn about 20 different bugs. Some of the bugs are every day and ordinary some are wild, strange, and anything but ordinary. While reading this book I learned of a few bugs I have never heard of.

The book has large color pictures of each bug so you can actually see what the bug looks like. It also tells you where and how the bug lives, eats, and survives. Which ones bite or sting as well. The pages about each bug may be short but there are tons of facts about the bug. It also tells you the different types of bugs in each bug family, and their differences.

The book is very interesting even to us adults. If you buy the paper book instead of the ebook it also comes with 13 reusable glow-in-the-dark plastic stickers.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
