Book Description:

The Invitation: To Journey Through a Conscious Mind, is a showcase in talent from author and poet Tyfany Janee. She's eloquently produced the anthology through plaintive artistic angst. Injecting the essence of her soul into her prose. The diverse collection of poetry which lies between the covers is the result of an entire life's work experimenting within her vocation.

Her work is comprised of truth, meaning, hope, possibility and a succinct hint of humor as she tears away the facade from humanity. The works shed light on relative issues that we're all faced with in our easily waywardly led astray lives, and the monotony that makes up our existence.

The Invitation: To Journey Through a Conscious Mind is an ode to the beat generation of poets that carved their names in literary history. Any creative mind will revel in the inspiration that lies between these pages; it's full of daring attitude, and celebration for the authentic. A unique look on love, that you have to dare to delve within. It harnesses true devotion, with a stark, hair raising element of modern reality.

What would I say to my 13-year-old self?
Dear thirteen-year-old me,
As I look back and see the color of the dreams. I smile at being full of them. An ambitious child, who worried of how to tackle all the goals had. There were other passions, but being an Author, Journalist and Writer for TV/Film took the cake. To study at the great NYU or Columbia University.
Life had other plans, the finances of Mom weren’t going to tackle the tuition. In fact, a valuable lesson will be learned for when becoming a parent, to start saving sooner, any little bit you can. Reality hits, she had high hopes for success, but there wasn’t a college fund. Mom was working to make ends meet. The fault isn’t to her or anyone else. The cost of living is high and the minimum wage can’t compete. Instead we went for alternatives, and decided on an in-state school.
The path led to Morgan State University. Excited about its rich culture as an HBCU. The problem in the matriculation was that it wasn’t affordable dorm there. Living just 1hr. outside of Baltimore, the plan was to take the commuter train every day. It was exhausting and fringed the experience as a college freshman.
Remember when I said we looked at all the alternatives. Well we did. One of them led us to a place where we ’d spend 8 years of adult life. At 19, we will join the Army. Our very rich military family, fatigues and soldier decorum wasn’t new. However, it was an experience from basic training, to AIT, to the first duty station.
Becoming an Author was still the dream, and often it felt like life was throwing things constantly, and put road blocks in the way. It was discouraging. Where was the time to take the shot?
The gift of two sons happened in those eight years. The focus became about them. We were married, a union we thought would last, but sadly there was a divorce. It was one of the hardest things to overcome. From a Human Resource Specialist to working in the Non-Profit sector. Again, the thought was, where’s the extra time going to come from? There’s not enough hours in the day. All the sacrifices made. We desired time to focus on the dream again.
Turns out all these experiences had inspired. We wrote through all of them.  Never putting the pen down. Read often, and that kept the fire. The things we had gained from these experiences were now motivation for us. That motivation gave us the power to make the time. Goal to write, and push out this book.
To my thirteen-year-old self, life will happen. Hang in there.
It just will. There are things just not in your control. The dream is not guaranteed or as easy as you think. You just roll with it. You’ll land where you want to be if you don’t give up.  Work on your craft, and patiently wait for the right timing. It can grow into something bigger or different. You could be there by yourself or with someone else.

Those dreams at thirteen, you wouldn’t believe it would take almost seventeen years to publish your first book. But it did. And you’re not mad at all. You experienced more, loved more, lived more, and became a better writer for the wait.
